Estructura de soporte, ejercicios de resistencia y desgaste

Reflexión sobre el oficio creativo y la capacidad de apoyo de parte de las instituciones en nuestro medio cultural. Se trata de un intento de mirar a manera de estratos las estructuras que nos sostienen, o parecieran hacerlo, desde una mirada personal e íntima y en correspondencia con lo institucional para poder pensar e intercambiar sus funciones, sus cimientos y su gravedad.
El vínculo más importante que encontraron ambos artistas al desarrollar el proyecto, resultó ser la incertidumbre permanente acerca de las prácticas artísticas en relación a los espacios en donde éstas se desarrollan: una carencia de arquitecturas del soporte, es decir, de instituciones que promueven y acogen la producción creativa como ensayo de posibilidades. Se recrea así la incertidumbre de la institución frente al mercado, tensión que nos caracteriza, pensada desde las bases mismas de la producción artística.
¿Cómo internalizamos el vacío institucional que irónicamente, parece sostener la práctica del artista?; ¿De qué manera y con qué estructuras se sostiene la ficción que legitimiza al artista y su trabajo frente a un mercado cada vez más agresivo y con mayores recursos?; ¿En qué se sostienen las estructuras institucionales frente a este escenario de inmediatez y de qué manera esta reflexión se torna íntima y se convierte en una preocupación creativa? Esta irresolución sobre la estabilidad del medio cultural es traslada a la experiencia personal de Johnson y Jaime, quienes han padecido de diversas dolencias en la columna, estructura esencial que nos mantiene erguidos. La incapacidad de soporte del propio cuerpo agravada con el paso de los años, junto a la factura de lo invertido en la actividad creativa, generaron obras en torno a la idea las vértebras y la columna, como elemento arquitectónico- signos de estabilidad tanto para la estructura dorsal como para las instituciones.
Reflection on the creative profession and the capacity of support from the institutions in our cultural environment. This is an attempt to look at the structures that support us, or seem to do so, from a personal and intimate perspective and in correspondence with the institutional in order to think and exchange their functions, their foundations and their gravity. The most important link that both
artists found when developing the project, turned out to be the permanent uncertainty about artistic practices in relation to the spaces where they develop: a lack of support architectures, that is, of institutions that promote and host creative production as a test of possibilities. Thus, the institution's uncertainty regarding the market is recreated, a tension that characterizes us, thought from the very bases of artistic production. How do we internalize the institutional vacuum that ironically seems to support the artist's practice?; In what way and with what structures does the fiction that legitimizes
the artist and his work stand up against an increasingly aggressive market with more resources?; How do institutional structures sustain themselves in the face of this immediacy scenario and how does this reflection become intimate and become a creative concern? This irresolution on the stability of the cultural environment is transferred to the personal experience of Johnson and Jaime, who have suffered from various ailments in the dorsal spine, an essential structure that keeps us upright. The inability to support the body itself aggravated over the years, together with the invoice of what was invested in creative activity, generated works around the idea of the vertebrae and the spine, as an architectural element - signs of stability for both the back structure as for institutions.
